FAQ
What is this?
A space about Thucydides, the man, and learning his “dialect” in reconstructed Old Attic Majuscule, based on Epigraphy between approximately 460-430BCE.
What about pitch accents?
Pitch is the least important information to me and I deliberately exclude it. Even the “best attempts” at reconstructing the pitch sound artificial and struggle with sentence-level prosody. As such, it’s ditched.
Are you using AI?
Yes, I use AI. The audiofiles are generated with Suno AI; the images are generated with Google’s Nano Banana 2.
Why does everything have instrumental backing?!
Because I generate with Suno, a Music Generation AI and extracting the stems sounds unpleasant. So enjoy the ominous dark desert acoustic guitar.
Why don’t you just mumble into your microphone?
Why don’t YOU just mumble into your microphone? But seriously, I listen to the files a lot and I DON’T want to hear my own voice for that.
You wrote “Lymnasion”
In Old Attic Epigraphy the Gamma looked like what you call Lambda now. As such, it actually spells “Gymnasion”. I created a custom font that displays the old attic alphabet as it was carved into stone.
And who actually needs this?
I. I need this.
